Are you a Breeder?
I am a responsible of Rottweiler's, Yorkshire Terrier's, and Chihuahua's. Each of my litters are carefully planned and well though out before any breeding takes place. I feel a great responsibility to each dog I own and every puppy my dogs produce and I work diligently daily to care for each and every one. This includes sitting during every breeding to make sure the dogs aren't injured, making sure my "moms" get proper nutrition and care when pregnant, and sitting with them (usually at 3 to 4 a.m.) while they deliver each puppy. I begin the care of each puppy when I remove it from the birth sac until the day the puppy leaves and goes to it's new home. I am available to answer questions when new owners have questions or concerns for their pets.
So when asked, "Why are your dogs more expensive than others in the paper?" , I answer you're getting a guaranteed, well socialized, healthy, and much loved puppy whose proper health-care have been my primary concern since conception, birth, and up to the leaving Twin Oaks Farm 6 to 8 wks old. Consequences associated from buying a puppy from an unhealthy environment or from a breeder with no regard for genetic diseases, undesirable traits, illnesses, etc. can be a much more costly endeavor in the long-run.
I am very proud of each puppy that leaves here and do my best to insure that each puppy gets a wonderful home for ever!!!
What size are your pups?
I can only estimate a puppies adult weight. My breeder females (Yorkies & Chihuahua's) tend to average 5-6 lbs. and my studs 3 to 5 lbs. Your puppy should mature between 3 to 5 lbs. I like to concentrate on a healthy puppy instead of a tiny puppy. If you are dead-set on finding a certain size my advice would be to look for an 8 month or older pup who has already matured to it's adult weight.
Do you offer a Health Guarantee?
I encourage all new puppy owners to schedule an appointment with their vet. ASAP when they pick up their new puppy. To find any health problems right away and address them immediately. This is a good way for you to go ahead and establish a relationship with your puppies vet. If the puppy develops a major life threatening fault, the puppy is to be returned to the seller for replacement, at half price upon next litter due. At the sellers discretion. Within the first six months from the date the puppy is purchased.
Males vs Females?
If yo are purchasing a puppy for a pet then I firmly believe there is absolutely no preference between male vs female gender. I believe every puppy (just like children) each have their very own personality and by the time your puppy is ready to to leave - the breeder should know each puppies individual personality and should discuss this with you. Most people pick their puppy based on size, looks, etc...
How do you house train?
I have house trained many puppies and in my experience "confinement and repetition". You cannot give your new puppy run of the house. They need a crate just large enough to lie down comfortably. Normally a puppy will leave their bed to potty - so the crate is basically a confined "bed'. You need to take your pup out about every 2 to 3 hrs. at first and any time you remove them from their bed. After you've taken your pup out to potty you can play with him. As soon as you are finished giving you pup attention place him back in his crate until the next potty-time. The pup should not have full run of your home until he is completely house trained - in my opinion until 1 yr. old age. Good luck & remember PATIENCE!!!!
