THE CHIHUAHUA
Introduction: "To know me is to love me" - Chihuahua's motto, if they could talk. Chihuahua's are one of the most loyal, sweet-tempered, gentle of the toy breeds. The Chihuahua-with their apple- dome skull and large luminous eyes can wear a remarkably human expression at times; he or she will want to be with you most, if not all the time.
History: The Chihuahua recieved its name from a northern part of Mexico bearing the same name. It is believed that the breed decended from the Techichi, a small canine that dates back to the Mayan times (around 5th century A.D.) The Toltecs conquered the Mayans and are believed to be the first to domesticate the Techichi and brought the canine into the home as pets and used then in religiuos purposes: as did the Aztecs.
General Appearance : A graceful, alert, swift-moving little dog with saucy expression, compact, and with terrier-like qualities of temperment.
Size: A well balanced little dog averaging 2-6 lbs. Average height 5 to 10 inches. Chihuahua's are like humans; some have long bodies, short bodies, long legs, or short legs. They come in an assortment of colors- solid, marked, or splashed.
Coats : Smooth or long haired, but I only breed the smooth coat.
